NYR 12-30-11 - clearing the decks

Knowing that I was going to be away from work for the next two weeks, I planned to clean off my desk and my in-box. Sometimes the best-laid plans go awry, but today they did not. I know on January 17, I'll return to fight fires but they'll be new fires at least, and for that, I am truly thankful!
